MOHAN Foundation (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to safeguarding the personal data of all individuals engaging with our campaigns, organ donation pledge programs, volunteer activities, training initiatives and donor support initiatives. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act, 2023).

Personal Data We Collect

  • Identity Data: Name, gender, age/date of birth, pledge ID.
  • Contact Data: Address, email, contact numbers.
  • Financial Donation Data: Contributions, receipts, PAN details (for 80G compliance).
  • Pledge Data: Organ donation pledges and preferences.
  • Training Data: Qualification, experience, affiliation
  • Engagement Data: Newsletter subscriptions, surveys, event participation.
  • Technical Data: IP address, cookies, browsing data (when visiting our website).

Use of Personal Data

We use your data for:

  • Registering organ donation pledges.
  • Issuing donor cards, receipts, and certificates.
  • Complying with statutory/tax obligations (donations, 80G certificates).
  • Sending awareness and training updates, newsletters, and invitations.
  • Research, policy advocacy, and program evaluation (using anonymised or aggregated data).

Sharing of Data

  • Internal teams and authorised staff.
  • Government authorities, tax departments (as required by law).
  • Training Beneficiaries’ data to the funding organizations (if necessary).
  • IT service providers and secure hosting partners.
  • We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.

Data Retention

  • Donation and financial records: As per income tax law (8 years minimum).
  • Pledge-related data: Retained securely unless a withdrawal of pledge request is received.
  • Volunteer/engagement data: Retained while active, and anonymised after withdrawal.

Your Rights (under DPDP Act, 2023)

  • Right to access and know what data we hold.
  • Right to correction or erasure.
  • Right to withdraw consent (e.g., organ donation pledge).
  • Right to grievance redressal and nomination.
